LANDR’s new sample recommendation tool, Selector, uses artificial intelligence to deliver tailored sounds and suggestions to musicians – in seconds. By using AI as a curation tool, we’re able to simplify the process of looking for sounds significantly. We think that providing artists with the right samples, through artificial intelligence, is the best way to help them focus on their art. Our goal at LANDR is to support and enable our users’ incredible creativity. By replicating certain behaviors that are typically done by humans, an AI can save artists money, speed up their workflow and improve the overall quality of their sound, while allowing them to stay focused on the creative aspects of their work. Musicians rely on technology to make music, and AI can help them achieve a number of music-related tasks, faster. Here, MBW grills LANDR CEO Pascal Pilon about AI, and why his company believes it can changed the landscape for musicians and songwriters… What can AI do for musicians? Now, the firm is aiming to cause yet another major disruption with the launch of an AI-based sample recommendation service – the first of its kind, says LANDR, and one that will completely revolutionize the way artists make music. LANDR works with over 2.5 million artists, songwriters, composers, producers, engineers and labels from 160 countries around the world. “We think that providing artists with the right samples, through artificial intelligence, is the best way to help them focus on their art.” Today, it offers distribution services to streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, in addition to rent-to-own plugins, collaboration and social promotion tools as well as sample packs. Since then, LANDR, which recently secured $26m in Series B financing from the likes of Sony Innovation Fund and Warner Music, has become a full service creative platform for musicians. Montreal-based LANDR launched the world’s first AI-powered mastering service back in 2014, allowing musicians to master tracks instantly without the help of an audio engineer. Leggatt’s ruling was supported by Lord Reed and Lord Lloyd-Jones, while a dissenting judgment was given by Lord Sales, with whom Lord Kitchin agreed. The judgment does not contain a remedy, and this was deferred to the high court, suggesting it may involve either an injunction or damages paid to the owners. However, Leggatt was clear in his opinion that this was a specific case, as the Tate’s decision to open a viewing gallery was “a very particular and exceptional use of land”, and did not mean that residents could complain of nuisance because neighbours could see inside their buildings. The supreme court decision had been anticipated as potentially enshrining tenants’ rights to privacy and potentially opening the floodgates to thousands of neighbour disputes. The platform opened to the public in 2016, four years after the flats were completed. The platform, which opened in 2016, provides a panorama of the city as well as a direct view into their glass-fronted flats. The case involves five owners of four flats in the Neo Bankside development on the South Bank in London taking action against the Tate over the estimated 500,000 visitors a year looking into their homes from the viewing platform 34 metres away. Noting that some visitors to Tate Modern’s viewing gallery, which is currently closed, photograph the interiors and post the images on social media, Lord Leggatt said: “It is not difficult to imagine how oppressive living in such circumstances would feel for any ordinary person – much like being on display in a zoo.” New combinators and lookup methods for MethodHandleĮnhanced Deprecation policy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear possible at this time to move entire folders or lists at once. Unfortunately, there is a catch we need to mention you can move reminders attached to third-party accounts to any list you want, but you can only move reminders attached to iCloud to other iCloud lists. For example, if you go to Microsoft To Do, you won't find it there anymore. Since your third-party accounts sync with Reminders, any reminder you move will disappear from the third-party accounts' platform. Once you do, iOS will transfer the reminder, and you'll be free to repeat the process for as many of that account's reminders as you like. Now, tap "List," then select any list from the account you want to move to. To start, open the list you want to transfer, tap a reminder you want to move, then tap the info (i) button. Here's how to do that: Option 1: Transfer Individual Reminders Instead, you want them attached to your iCloud account so that everything can be in one convenient location. So, let's say you have reminders attached to an Outlook account, but you don't want them there. Tip 4: Move Reminders to Different Accounts However, if you see your lists separated by account name (e.g., iCloud, Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, Gmail), then some of your tasks in Reminders may belong to those accounts and not iCloud. If you just see "My Lists" as well as the default categories, then you only have Reminders connected to one account (most likely iCloud) or saved directly on your device. Open Reminders, and check out how the front page looks. You'll be able to tell if your Reminders are spread across multiple accounts just by checking the app. Tip 1: Check if You Have Multiple Accounts Attached to Reminders For example, for Outlook, all of your reminders are in To Do, and for Yahoo, you can find them as tasks in the calendar accessible via Yahoo Mail (from the web - there is no iOS app for Yahoo Calendar). However, you could still access them on the third-party account's platform. If you still have access to the other accounts and you delete them from your iPhone and all your other Apple devices, you won't see the reminders anymore on your iPhone unless you move them first. Other accounts complicate things since you need to be signed into all accounts with compatible data to see all of your information. Or it could just be a hassle or confusing since your iCloud account gives you the impression that all of your data is collected in one centralized location, easily accessible with a log-in on any Apple device. You might be deleting an email account to use a fresh one instead. The situation doesn't need to be as dramatic as that. What happens if you leave a job, but that work account has attached reminders? Unless you move them to one of your other accounts before losing access to the work one, you'll lose the reminders and any other data connected to it. Reasons to Move Reminders Lists Over to iCloud Don't Miss: How to Sync Your Notes Across Multiple Devices. That works well when you use those accounts, but it can get in the way without you realizing it. Services such as Yahoo, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, and some AOL accounts allow to you use Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, and, yes, Reminders, to keep your important data connected to the accounts that you use the most. Reminders are far from the only data you can connect to third-party accounts. Here's how to get the full picture of where your reminders are stored. However, you may have information like reminders attached to accounts other than iCloud, which won't appear when signing into iCloud on a new device. Apple's iCloud is a fantastic way to ensure that all of your photos, messages, notes, and other important data are backed up and appear on all of your connected devices. There is no doubt that we now have a widespread problem on our hands, with PaperPort 14.5 and Firefox 61.0 having a serious compatibility issue. She changed BrowserSelected to xxx and that immediately solved the problem - PaperPort opened successfully! :) Furthermore, soon after the initial publication of this article, I received a message from another Experts Exchange member who said that she experienced the same problem shortly after upgrading Firefox to Version 61.0 (64-bit). I don't know if that's what causes the problem, but I'm not a big believer in coincidences. Note that the problem occurred shortly after I upgraded Firefox to Version 61.0 (32-bit). So, a huge Thank You to Andrea for the idea, and to Frank for confirming - magic, indeed! I then changed it to xxx, and that worked. I then tried Andrea's fix and, voilà, success! I first changed Mozilla Firefox to Internet Explorer and it worked. I tried a few fixes first (from my own published articles/videos here at EE), but nothing worked. A crash dump file was generated, which may contain technical information about the nature of the problem.) (The application 'PaperPort' has encountered a fatal error and will be terminated. I started PaperPort, which I typically do several times every day, and received this Application Crash dialog right after the splash screen: I was still a bit skeptical, but, that same day, it happened to me! I am running PaperPort Professional 14.5 with both Patch 1 and the PP14 Scanner Connection Tool installed. I know, hard to believe! But another Experts Exchange member, Frank Schabel, reported in a comment on 2 at my PP14 Scanner Connection Tool article that the fix also worked for him ("I changed it and like magic paperport opened and worked"). It doesn't even have to be an actual browser name - e.g., it can be xxx. What Andrea reported is this: when the data in BrowserSelected is Mozilla Firefox, PaperPort crashes! He changed Mozilla Firefox to Internet Explorer and PaperPort no longer crashed! We exchanged several posts there and discovered that any data in BrowserSelected other than Mozilla Firefox will cause PaperPort to open properly. It contains many values (fields), one of which is BrowserSelected (a string, i.e., REG_SZ). HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ScanSoft\PaperPort\PaperPort User Preferences PaperPort has the following key in the registry: Fasten your seat belt - this is a really strange one! The first time that I became aware of this issue is when Experts Exchange member Andrea Carli reported it in a comment on 2 at my PaperPort 14 in Windows 10 article. The purpose of this new article is to document a recent problem that has reached epidemic levels. In another EE article, I discuss other possible solutions to the problem of PaperPort not opening, typically crashing right after the splash screen appears (sometimes with a dump, sometimes not). Also, in a previously published article here at Experts Exchange, I discuss another scenario in which PaperPort fails to open, namely, the so-called "Windows XP Compatibility Mode" problem, also known as the "AppCompatFlags Layers" problem, due to its solution (see Nuance's "Technote 6629" error message in the article referenced above). In a previously published five-minute video Micro Tutorial here at Experts Exchange, I present one way to solve the problem of Nuance's PaperPort product not opening, namely, using the CheckPPFolders utility that is provided as part of a normal PaperPort installation. Thus, I changed the name of the article accordingly. In addition, while the symptoms are occasionally a crash or hang, the most common symptom by far is the appearance of the splash screen, followed by an immediate exit, that is, PaperPort never opens. However, there are now reports from folks who are not using Firefox, but are still experiencing the problem. The former name of this article was, " What to do when PaperPort crashes, hangs, or fails to start - popular fix for Mozilla Firefox users". The update then goes into detail on the various changes, effects, and features that will be present in the remake so if you're interested in a deeper dive, head there. "This has also given us time to go back and polish various aspects of the game that needed that extra shine." With so much hype surrounding remasters, remakes, and VR modes, let's hope this isn't just a temporary glitch in the Matrix."As some of you have already pointed out, this is not our first time announcing a tentative launch window, but over the past few years, much has changed – the scope and scale of the project has evolved dramatically and with Prime Matter joining the project, it's enabled us to focus on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixing, and localization support – the last major steps towards releasing a game we're all incredibly proud of," the update reads. Back in the day, System Shock 3 was being toyed with by Ben Wanat and Wright Bagwell, who eventually reworked their idea into the first Dead Space game. In 2018, the developer started from scratch with its System Shock remake, and while that was tipped for Q1 of 2020, the date has well and truly been and gone.Īway from all of this, OtherSide Entertainment has supposedly acquired a licence from Nightdive to develop a proper System Shock 3 after the long-mooted threequel has been in development hell since the mid-noughties. Sadly, there's no concrete release date on any of the above because Nightdive is due to release System Shock 2 alongside its own full remake of the original. Kick concluded, " just become essential in creating that feeling that you’re there… Things like being able to pick up items from a distance is something that was really important in Half-Life: Alyx, and it’s something you’ll be able to do in System Shock VR as well".Īt the moment, the System Shock 2 VR mode is only in the prototype stage and expected to release some time after the Enhanced Edition's launch. To make the most out of the System Shock 2 remaster's VR mode, Kick and the team have been studying other VR games and cited Valve's Half-Life: Alyx as setting the standard. This means co-op can be played cross-platform with someone on a standard PC playing next to someone in VR on a console. Us:□□ /nYgX0xnVBa- Nightdive Studios January 10, 2021įor those who want to know more, Kick explained how System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition will be playable in VR alongside multiplayer. Our Notifications: "Is System Shock 2 EE still a thing?" What else can we expect from the System Shock 2 remaster? More than just a last-minute addition, Kick reiterated the System Shock 2 VR mode comes from an outline for a “really remarkable, built from the ground up VR experience". And so we brought on an expert to look about the cod and give us a brief idea of what kind of things we could do". Discussing the next-gen evolution, Nightdive Studios CEO Stephen Kick explained, “During the process of reverse-engineering the missing libraries for System Shock 2, we had an opportunity to play around with the idea of creating a standalone VR version. Speaking to IGN, Nightdive explained that the VR mode will even have its own dedicated team to handle its development. Now, the studio is here to confirm it as fact. A VR mode for the System Shock 2 remaster was teased last month when Nightdive broke its extended silence with an update on the game and what looked like footage of an in-progress VR mode. That's fair enough, but the big takeaway is the addition of VR support to take System Shock 2 truly into the sci-fi future it depicts.Įven if VR gaming hasn't quite taken off like the industry would've liked, games like Resident Evil 7 show effective it can be - especially in first-person survival horrors like the System Shock games. Alongside using the same engine that gave System Shock 4K support, achievements, and improved controls, we're told there will be an overhaul of how co-operative play works. Nightdive first announced System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition in 2019, and even though we don't know exactly how the game will be enhanced, the developer has been slowly feeding us titbits on what to expect. If you haven't played the series I strongly suggest checking it out as all is not what t appears to be, you might just be in for quite a great experience as a newcomer to the franchise. In summary SUPERHOT has another hit on their hands and this game was offered free to those that purchased the original game on their Xbox One consoles so that was quite a nice gesture and fans of the series can rejoice. There are ways around the 8 hour wait if you look online but I won't go into them here. There is a very unusual ending (no spoilers) and the game will not allow you to run through again for 8 hours after completing the experience. The game remains unique and keeps from feeling stale throughout. The things that were great about the 1st game are present while taking the experience to a new level. While the game feels like an extension of it's predecessor rather than a completely new experience that isn't necessarily a bad thing. A familiar reflection of what the original game managed to be, but a slew of new threats, demented twists and further reinforcing of smart tactics to compensate for such unpredictability result in Superhot: Mind Control Delete ending up a great addition to the Superhot experience. Battle after battle, each fallen foe pushes you closer to the secrets hiding in the game and each secret gives you more powers to fight the system’s defenses. Vineyards here are cooled by ocean winds to create full-bodied Californian-style reds from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties. The Maipo Valley is the leading region of the Chile wine map, not least because of its closeness to the capital Santiago. Further south, the San Antonio Valley is being heralded as one of the most exciting new wine regions of Chile – producing some of the finest Pinot Noir outside of Burgundy. Part of the region produces fine Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc whites, while the Merlot and Pinot Noirs come from the more mountainous section. The Casablanca Valley is the first of the newer wine regions that have been established on the Chile wine map. It is one of the warmest regions on the Chilean wine map, but the cooler temperatures at higher altitudes produce a range of Bordeaux-style blends from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Carménère. The Aconcagua Valley takes its name from the highest mountain peak in South America. One of the newest regions on the Chile wine map is the Choapa Valley, which has a terroir suited to both Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah but is yet to have any established wineries within its boundaries. Chardonnay is the signature grape here, along with Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Limari Valley is a hot and dry region northwest of the capital Santiago, which has attracted investment from three of the country’s largest wineries: Concha y Toro, San Pedro and Santa Rita. Syrah is the most successful international grape variety grown here, while visitors are also drawn by Chile’s most popular liquor, pisco brandy. The Elqui Valley is among the most beautiful places to visit on the Chile region's map. |
